Latin American Parliamentarians Against Corruption - LAPAC

LAPAC (Organization of Latin America Parliamentarians Against Corruption)/ Parlamentarios Latinoamericanos contra la Corrupción (PLACC) was founded in September 2002 under the leadership of Senator Juan Adolfo Singer of Uruguay, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Parlatino was nominated and approved as its Secretariat.

PLACC is a not-for-profit international organization whose main purpose is to bring together parliamentarians, both in representation of their respective parliaments and individually, and former parliamentarians, for the purpose of combating corruption and promoting transparency and accountability, to ensure the observance of high standards of integrity in public management.

Second General Assembly of the Latin American Chapter and Executive Elections Held in Argentina

On April 7th 2006, the Latin American Chapter of GOPAC (LAPAC) held its second annual meeting (and elected a new Board) in Buenos Aires. More than 88 legislators were in attendance as were international experts and the GOPAC Chair, Mr. John Williams MP. To read the minutes CLICK HERE. Workplan includes:

• Support for the legislative and regulatory function: Institutionalization and sub-region coordination.

• Strengthening parliamentary accountability and transparency.

• Systematization and investigation through establishment of efficient relations with civil society.

• Strengthening the strategic role of parliament in its function.

• Elaboration of Instruments of political oversight fiscalization.

• Technological support for strengthening the legislative branches in their fight against corruption.
