GOPAC’s 4th Global Conference of Parliamentarians Against Corruption will take place in Mexico City, Mexico March 11-13, 2011.
Hosted by the Senate of Mexico, the Conference has two objectives:
- to examine how parliamentarians can participate in the effective implementation of the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC);
- to address strategic issues as the organization moves forward.
Since its inception in 2002, GOPAC has become a credible voice in highlighting the importance of parliaments and parliamentarians, working with governments and others in the prevention of corruption. It also has examined the capacity and performance of parliamentarians in carrying out their roles – establishing initial benchmarks and providing initial assessments.
The Conference will seek to establish the key next steps for GOPAC, the Global Task Forces and its chapters.
The Senate of Mexico is providing:
- the facilities,
- arranging for a streamlined process for obtaining visas to enter Mexico,
- providing transportation within Mexico City and the formal Conference meals.
Participants and their sponsors must cover the cost of international travel and accommodation in Mexico City.
Participants must register in advance to participate, but there is no registration fee.
We look forward to welcoming you to Mexico City in March 2011!
