The GOPAC Secretariat serves as the global point of contact for GOPAC and its regional and national chapters. The Secretariat's role involves keeping records of memberships, including regional and national chapters, and promoting new memberships and affiliations. It co-ordinates and facilitates the activities of the various organs of GOPAC as well as GOPAC's international programming. The Secretariat provides a supporting role to the Executive Committee and maintains relationships and co-ordinates activities between GOPAC and other organizations. One of the primary tasks of the Global Secretariat is also to collect and disseminate information concerning the GOPAC and its chapters.
GOPAC has a professional Secretariat based at the Parliamentary Centre that supports the Executive and Board, undertakes programming and communications, and manages GOPAC finances. The Parliamentary Centre, a Canadian not-for-profit organization, has over 30 year experience in serving parliamentarians around the world.

Executive SecretaryMartin Ulrich After studies at the University of Manitoba and Iowa State University leading to a Ph. D. in Economics, he held teaching and research positions in economics, regional development and public finance at Iowa State, Simon Fraser and the University of Minnesota. Over the next thirty years he held policy analysis, research and executive position in the Government of Canada, principally at Treasury Board Canada. He lead the government initiatives to improve reporting to Parliament and develop the government's approaches to results-based management, performance measurement and evaluation. He was also involved in Canadian development assistance projects in Pakistan and southeast Asia (principally in Malaysia). |
CoordinatorTerence (Ted) Cooke has had a 40 year career working in the government, non-government and private sectors. For the past 20 years Ted worked with the federal government, first with the Canadian Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and then with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO). With DFO, he focused on developing and nurturing formal partnering agreements with multiple stakeholders that put structures in place to deliver results on common objectives. He also served as Senior Advisor, Strategic Management for the Oceans, Habitat and Species at Risk Sector. Prior to DFO, he was the Natural Sciences Programme Officer and Executive Secretary of the Canada Man and the Biosphere Programme with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. Ted has been a volunteer for many years and is currently the Chair of the Annual Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Fair. |

SecretaryParliamentary Ethics and Conduct and Parliamentary Immunity Global Task Forces
Nola Juraitis spent the last sixteen years of a 30 year career in the federal government as a Director of governance and accountability at the Treasury Board Secretariat and the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. She has extensive experience in working with parliamentarians as well as building ongoing working networks with a broad range of expert and non-government organizations. She joined GOPAC as a consultant in July 2008 on a half-time basis. Based on her experience and interest in parliamentary engagement, Nola is acting as the Secretary to the two GOPAC global task forces on the UN Convention Against Corruption and Parliamentary Oversight. |
