How Can Your Organization Get Involved With GOPAC

The Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption - GOPAC - is a non-profit international organization whose main purpose is bringing together parliamentarians and others to combat corruption, promote transparency and accountability and ensure high standards of integrity in public transactions. GOPAC partners include governments, parliamentarians, Transparency International, the World Bank Institute and the Canadian International Development Agency.

Benefits of building alliences with GOPAC

By building alliances with GOPAC your organization will have access to over 400 parliamentarians around the world, dedicated to the fight against corruption and towards good governance.

GOPAC's sources of finance include the following:

  • Donations and grants from international and bilateral funding organisations;

  • Contributions, including those from governments, government agencies, corporations or other business entities, international organizations, individuals and other organizations;

  • Any other sources determined by the Board to be appropriate;

  • Membership Fees.

GOPAC offers the following programming:
  • GOPAC's Anti Money Laundering Initiative (AMLI) - is chaired by Hon. Roy Cullen of Canada. The program focuses on the important role that parliamentarins play in influencing legilsation and engaging the public in AML initiatives globally. However, to do so, they must understand how money laundering occurs and the mechanisms for its mitigation. They also need the support of recognized experts and a global voice. This program attempts to address this need.

  • Supporting the implementation of the UN Convention Against Corruption - and related regional conventions -over the next 3-5 years. This initiative is co-chaired by Sen Edgardo Angara of the Philippines.

  • The Global Conference - the Board of Directors organizes a conference every two years to which all the members and observers are invited. The Conference debates any issue, which falls within the scope of the Organization’s objectives or any related matters and makes subsequent recommendations.
