The Board of Directors, reflecting the perspectives of its founding members and discussion at the 2002 founding Conference, focused on an initial 4-5 year development period. During this period GOPAC would seek to become a visible and a respected global partner in fighting corruption and, at the same time, provide practical assistance to parliamentarians focusing on – but not limited to – developing countries.

To be fully successful GOPAC, by the end of this period, would, amongst other things, have, in cooperation with others, tailored practical training and tools in at least three of the following four (or related) areas:

a) anti-money laundering;
b) election financing;
c) code of conduct for parliamentarians; and
d) parliamentary and budgetary oversight;

At this time, the GOPAC organisation is focusing on the first of these four items. However, we expect to begin the work on the remaining three shortly.
